Emir Guldis is the young ruler of Pashow, one of the five allied city-states of Thuvia. The city has lost its last two shipments of sun orchid elixir to teleportation accidents. The cause of these mishaps is unknown, but the citizens hold Guldis responsible. He is desperately seeking to solve the mystery and restore his reputation.

In the meantime, a group of agitators are seeking overthrow Guldis and put Ziralia, eldest daughter of Prince Zinlo of Aspenthar, on the throne of Pashow.
