New Subportals

We need (I would suggest) an author subportal on this portal page plus a link to the new page about suggested reading order. --Fleanetha (talk) 08:37, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

Flavor Characters

There are quite a few characters that appear in the flavor text of various sourcebooks (e.g., Ch. 5 of the GM Guide has characters Tyla, Anderi, and Kapos). Should there be a page for flavor text characters and subjects that centralize all of these characters and what information is available? --User:Retired deer

I think those characters can easily be added to the wiki as inhabitants of the setting, but they're not necessarily part of fiction as we define it on the wiki. Unless they appear in a distinct work of fiction, such as a novel, comic book, audio drama, or short story, they are considered NPCs as far as the wiki goes.
The intent of the characters section of the portal is, as I understand it, to allow users to see what other novels or works of fiction a recurring character appears in. Those who are neither a major character in a fictional work nor a recurring character when not themselves the protagonist don't really need to be listed here, else we'll end up with hundreds of names on the list.—Paizo Publishing, LLC.png Yoda8myhead (talk) 22:40, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
Would it be okay to begin adding them to the pages of the books they appear in? For example, a section offering a summary of the flavor text and characters for each chapter. I could do a sample for the GameMastery Guide.--User:Retired deer
I think adding them here would be a bit much, What I've been doing for these blurbs is updating the List of works page when a new book/song/poem/journal is listed, and red-linking to the (in world) author's page, creating a citation to the book and page number. I think the GM guide is a little more unique in it's flavor headings than many of the other products (I don't have it in front of me as I'm at work) where the flavor sections aren't represented by snippets of in world books, so this may not work for this case.
Adding them to the Product page could be a good alternative, Many of these would be included in the /index pages (like Heart of the Jungle/Index) so it's really only the RPG line that would need this treatment in my eyes. -- Cpt kirstov (talk) 23:33, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
I left a sample section on the GM guide page. It's very basic at this point.--User:Retired deer
