Seance

From PathfinderWiki
(Redirected from Séance)

A seance is a method to communicate with supernatural entities, especially the spirits of the dead, in a haunted place. Seances are often practiced by mediums.1

Practitioners

Specific methods vary, but common seance practices include whispering or writing the spirits' suggestions, or the spirit responding to the practitioner's questions by knocking or through other coded means.2 Not all practitioners are authentic; some unscrupulous charlatans fake the results of a seance to prey on grieving families.3

Equipment

Some seance practitioners use specialized tools such as talking boards, spirit trumpets, or automatic writing planchettes to increase the efficiency of communication.2

Mediums distribute performer's tokens as calling cards before beginning a seance.4
