Thorgothrels are intelligent space-faring oozes who hail from a planet far from Golarion. They possess an inherent ability to chemically manipulate other creatures' genetic makeup.1

Appearance

Thorgothrels are protoplasmic blobs measuring 12 feet in diameter. They can form pseudopods capable of manipulation and can form tools.1

The gravity and atmosphere of planets such as Golarion are hostile to their survival. For instance, the low air pressure can fatally vaporize a thorgothrel's body upon exposure. This forces them to rely on artificial skeletons made of refined silver rods that emit force fields in order to withstand and slowly move about in such environments. The electrically charged armature also serves as sustenance, as thorgothrels are nourished by both electricity and certain metal.1

As thorgothrel mathematics use a ternary system, most thorgothrel armatures have three legs and three arms. While using such an armature, a thorgothrel typically stands 11 feet tall and weighs about 900 pounds.1

History

Thorgothrels were once humanoids who determined that evolution was a danger to the Universe and used genetic manipulation to devolve the populations of entire planets, a practice in which they took great pride.1

Their manipulation extended to their own forms, which they devolved while retaining their intellect and abilities. While the thorgothrels encountered on Golarion rely on relatively small armatures, stories from other planets describe thorgothrels with massive walking machines and psychic projectors that can subvert entire cities to their rule.2

Ecology

A thorgothrel does not require sleep, instead resting for years while travelling between worlds, and can survive on as little as an ounce of silver per week. They communicate telepathically and anathematically avoid verbal speech.2

Society

Thorgothrels view themselves and their views of other life forms as superior, and their arrogance often leads them to overconfidence. They consider other intelligent beings to be evolutionary mistakes to be corrected rather than peers worth communicating with.2

On Golarion

Thorgothrels discovered Golarion, a planet far from their own homeworld, decades ago. The distance and hostile environment have drawn only a few thorgothrel adventurers who maintain a low profile in wastelands and obscure locales. In these lairs they experiment on devolving local creatures, often resulting in reports of animals and people who turn unexpectedly feral.2
