Images of Aldinach

Aldinach (pronounced ALL-di-nach)[1] is the demon lord of sand, thirst and scorpions. Her unholy symbol is an image of a gold scorpion with sand dripping from its claws.

Aldinach's main form is that of an enormous, golden scorpion as large as a house, whose claws are crystalline and razor-sharp. Underneath a towering carapace covered with myriad smaller scorpions, a horribly human head lodges.[2][3]

History & Relationships

One of Lamashtu's daughters from the time before the Mother of Monsters became a goddess, Aldinach has little contact with her mother. On the other hand, her sphinx-like sister Areshkagal is at constant war with her. After stealing the Sea of Whispering Sands from her sister, Aldinach must be on guard against armies from the Blood Clefts, to where her sister was exiled. Areshkagal is desperate to regain her lost Realm.[2][3]

Worshipers and Followers

Aldinach has few followers on the Material Plane but, since she is the demon lord of sand and scorpions, she has cults in Osirion's and Rahadoum's desert areas, as well as the Kelish realm in central Casmaron. When her temples are not old churches in abandoned cities, they are underground in burrows and caves.

Monsters associated with her include the scorpionesque gharros demon and the "double scorpion" sandwalkers.[2]
