Barzahk is a psychopomp usher who keeps track of visitors arriving at and leaving the Boneyard and is responsible for maintaining the Dead Roads, the route network used by the psychopomps to travel to the Material Plane.[1][2][3]
Contents
History
Barzahk was born from the needs and fears of psychopomps, and emerged fully formed at the same time as the Dead Roads.[4]
Home
Barzahk endlessly roams the Dead Roads and rarely attends to its duties, but has difficulty understanding the world outside and seldom leaves its realm.[4]
Appearance
Barzahk resembles a giant migratory bird clad in robes. It carries a tombstone and key that, when used together, can lock or unlock a soul's memories upon their passage to the afterlife. Its servants benefit from significant autonomy, akin to that of psychopomp ushers, who are quick to disabuse them of this notion.[2][4]
