Template talk:Cite book/Dark Markets

From PathfinderWiki

The template name is "Cite_book/Dark_Markets" but the article for the book it links to is called "Dark Markets, A Guide to Katapesh". This seems a little wonk and has already confused somebody... should we rename this template? Also, this might be something that we should address in the Manual of style. --Aeakett 15:13, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

It's certainly something to address in the MoS, but until it's a set-in-stone policy, we're sortof doing things on a case-by-case basis. In this instance, I created the citation template using the short name because the idea of typing Dark Markets, A Guide to Katapesh multiple times is a little annoying, though we are using long titles for Pathfinder issues and other books. I believe that The Great Beyond and Princes of Darkness have similarly abbreviated citation templates.
One solution might be to make the "official" templates the full name, but create redirect pages for shortened titles. IE: {{Cite article/Pathfinder 4, Fortress of the Stone Giants}} would be the template suggested in the Manual of Style, but we could, anticipating people not reading that, create redirect pages from {{Cite book/Pathfinder 4, Fortress of the Stone Giants}}, {{Cite article/Pathfinder 4}}, {{Cite book|Fortress of the Stone Giants}}, etc. -- yoda8myhead 17:19, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
