Arbo is a mostly abandoned limestone quarry village in the western Swardlands of the Isle of Kortos, located north of the Irr River on the western edge of the Inland Hills on a farm track that connects the northern Husna Crossroads to Stump south of Arbo.1

History

Arbo was once a larger town; if used, many of its abandoned buildings could accommodate a population of up to 350. Its history is dominated by its limestone quarry, which was a source of quicklime and slaked lime.2

Arbo's quarry has been largely abandoned since a kiln explosion ca. 4645 AR that killed several residents. The incident left a blackened pit that remains colloquially called the Hell Pit and is avoided by locals and travelers. As of 4720 AR, only one of the several lime kilns still standing remained active and produces alchemical reagents for Absalom.2

People

As of 4720, most residents of Arbo live near a monastery of Sarenrae led by Abbot Viddersham that tends vineyards near the quarry, the grapes of which produce well-regarded wines.2
