I removed it because it is out-of-world information. The style of the wiki should be as if it were an in-world resource so mentioning real-world influences, references, or gaming product in non-product pages should be avoided. -- Yoda8myhead 14:32, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Redirect?

I think the title of this article should be changed to "Swallowtail Festival" as this seems a much more common name for it. "Swallowtail Release" has only three total instances in the canon, whilst "Swallowtail Festival" has 14. --brandingopportunity 15:44, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

You're not the only one to wonder about this. The event's referred to directly as the "Swallowtail Release" in the Desna article in the Pathfinder AP; it's mentioned once in the CS, as the "Swallowtail Festival", but that's only an indirect mention as part of the calendar on page 239.

As I read it these are two separate but related events; the "Swallowtail Release" is the holiday practiced by the clergy of Desna, where butterflies reared by the church are released in remembrance of on of the faith's myths. The "Swallowtail Festival" is a community celebration/party that occurs on the day of the swallowtail release. Further, while the former is celebrated by all of Desna's clergy, I get the impression that the latter hasn't caught on as much and is only practiced in a handful of communities.

I think we have the article correct as is; due to the fact that the AP article on Desna is the foremost source of information we have available on the deity, and because the mention of the holiday in the CS is made only in passing, I think we're right to go by what's listed in the AP and use "Swallowtail Festival" as a redirect. -- Heaven's Agent 16:32, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Given the discussion going on regarding canon policies and the hierarchy of sources for cases of conflict, I think this is a reasonable reconciliation between the two same-tiered sources.
