User:Yoda8myhead/User blog/Welcome to PathfinderWiki!

From PathfinderWiki

I know many of you reading this might already be familiar with PathfinderWiki and some of you might even be Chroniclers yourselves. But whether you're new here or an old regular, let this serve as an official welcome to the community. The resource is only ever as good as we make it, so the larger and more versatile a group of contributors we have, the better!

As the current active administrator of the site, I thought I'd use the blog to introduce many of the community-building aspects of the site to those who may not be familiar with them. Whether or not you become an active Chronicler, there's no reason you can't be part of the community.

First, there's this great blog! Thanks to Wikia for implementing this new feature. Finally there's a great way to communicate and get feedback from editors and users alike without requiring lots of digging through the site. I hope this feature can be used by people to make general comments on Pathfinder, on PathfinderWiki and to make announcements and start discussions on upcoming or current projects and editing initiatives (that's my next post, btw).

Anyone who wants one can also register for a username here at Wikia. Being logged in means that all the ads on the site disappear except for one that will always remain on the PathfinderWiki main page. Being a logged-in, registered Chronicler does more than that though. You will have your own talk page where other Chroniclers can leave you messages, your own user page where you can write about yourself and describe projects you're working on, games you're running/playing in, or just test our articles before they're ready to go live to the main site.

We've also got a nice little forum (which we call the Grand Lodge in honor of the headquarters of the Pathfinder Society) where we discuss new directions the wiki might go. Recently we've decided on some major changes to our naming conventions and a site-wide project to make the wiki more helpful for more people.

For quick chatting and to see who else is active at any given time, use the Shout Box widget (which you can activate from your widget toolbox under "More" in the top right of the screen.

I think that's about it for now. Expect more from me soon. In return, I expect you to take advantage of everything PathfinderWiki has to offer, both as a user and a Chronicler. Let's make this community the best it can be and explore Golarion and the Great Beyond for years to come.

I'm so glad the blog functionality was finally rolled out. I've been looking forward to this for some time, and I can't say the timing could be any better; with the launch of the core rules just over a month away, and the increased interest in the setting that's likely to come with them, this is as prime a time as any for such a resource to make its first appearance in the project. —Heaven's Agent (talk) Thu, 02 Jul 2009 06:21:57 +0000
