Manus are a lesser caste of manasaputras. Each manu aspires to elevate a specific race or type of creature (usually, but not always, among those to whom the manu belonged during its most meaningful mortal incarnation) to enlightenment, adopting them collectively as charges. Most manus focus on their charges' enlightenment on a single planet of the Universe, except the most ambitious ones who travel from world to world as their people spread across planets. Manus are usually solitary, but sometimes work in rounds that coordinate efforts to guide their charges.1[citation needed]

Rishi manus

Rishi manus are manasaputras who watch over entire worlds and push certain powerful or influential individuals toward paths of enlightenment that will help as many as possible.6[citation needed]

Maharishi manus

Maharishi manus are the pinnacle of the manu caste of manasaputras. They follow the directions of leadership set by the kumaras and govern spiritual development over epochs, leading lesser manus and mortals toward enlightenment. Because of the nature of their missions, maharishi manus form strong bonds with the inhabitants of the worlds they keep watch over and can never be kept away from them for long.7[citation needed]

A maharishi manu often sits in quiet contemplation, rarely speaking or acting. Its telepathic messages seem nonsensical at first but grow increasingly meaningful as listeners overcome struggles and grow on their own.7[citation needed]
