Razorscales are large frilled lizards of the Katapeshi Uwaga Highlands.12 Hunters wear gloves to protect their hands when handling the slim, sharp scales that cover razorscales' bodies.3

Appearance

A razorscale can grow to up to six feet in length, and the average specimen weighs 200 pounds.3

Ecology

Razorscales are generally harmless, preferring to eat carrion, rodents, birds, and dhabba. Females fiercely protect their nests and attack anyone who comes close to their thick-shelled eggs.3 These lizards are not afraid to attack larger creatures when provoked.1

The lizards share their mountainous habitat with dragonnes, kholo,4 goats, and mountain lions.2

As food

Razorscale eggs are edible and sometimes served soft-boiled as a delicacy in the city of Katapesh.5
