Nightswallow's Rest is a town of humans in southern Jinin, along the Silkstring River near Jinin's border with Songbai.12

History

The people of Nightswallow's Rest were long ago aided in surviving the aftermath of Earthfall by aiyawu shrines secretly erected and maintained by Jinin's elves, which the people of Nightswallow's Rest initially credited as benevolent spirits. They swore to protect these "spirits" of Silvermist Wood, and even after the elves revealed themselves to the outside world as the beings responsible for the shrines, the people of Nightswallow's Rest continued to loyally defend their lands.2

They developed a close relationship with Jinin's elves, adopted their swordfighting techniques, and named their families after the elves' rare breeds of flowers. The Jininese gifted dawnsilver blades to them, which became heirlooms.2

Nightswallow's Rest's residents have since softened their defenses to take on the role of assessing visitors for threats and benefits. While they retain their skills with blades and magic, they primarily test the mettle of potential newcomers and report any notable people or happenings to Jinin's Spymaster Tadaiyo.2

Government

Asadao Rainblossom serves as the town's headwoman.2
