Talk:Dominion of the Black

Deleted Text

Great updates to this page recently Disquisition but some canon text was lost and am unsure why. Here it is:

According to Osiriani hieroglyphics, godlike beings may have descended from the Dark Tapestry at some point in Golarion's history. The writings have been interpreted to refer to these beings as having provided "gifts of mind quakes when favor [was] found and obliteration when it [was] not," and "making playthings of men." Mind quakes may or may not actually relate to Ancient Osirion's dramatic rise from barbarism or its recorded spike in cultural and military success, but the link is occasionally postulated by outside Osirionologists. Such theories are largely dismissed by more responsible academia.

The Night Herald seer Vasoov is imprisoned in Pangolais's dungeons, both by a cell and by steel roots emerging from his own body.

Symbology
A symbol used by the Dominion of the Black for representing the Dark Tapestry is a strange tangle of tentacle shapes.

Under Qadira
The essay was suppressed by the Church of Sarenrae, and Surhal was subsequently found dead from his own self-mutilation.

All of the above tomes were collected by the Opparan aristocrat Gaius Beaulenard in the late 4500s AR, and many were returned to his family upon his death in 4612 AR and subsequently sold to an unknown collector. Libraries in Katheer, Omash, and Sedeq all reportedly contain works about the Dominion in their stacks, as do private libraries across the Inner Sea region, including a collection in Egorian.

Usually best to indicate why text is deleted to help reviewing, and this looks all good and could be added back in again?

Thanks! Regarding Imed Ibn Surhal, Gaius Beaulenard, and Vasoov, much of that seemed only indirectly related to the Dominion of the Black, and it's my intention to add pages for each of them where that information would be more directly relevant (Gaius has already been completed, the others will follow as time allows). Some of the information regarding Ancient Osirion got lost while I was writing up the new History section, we should definitely mention mind quakes in that section. The Symbology section was an accidental deletion, I'll replace that right away. Disquisition (talk) 13:08, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick response Disquisition and it seems you have it all under control. --Fleanetha (talk) 13:36, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Singular or plural

Is it singular or plural? Probably singular as that is used exclusively recently. Then what type of thing is it - it looks like an organization. Anyway it needs an infobox and the correct categories adding then the category structure needs updating. --Fleanetha (talk) 14:10, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

DW: "the mysterious and terrifying beings collectively called the Dominion of the Black". --Oznogon (talk) 06:04, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
Singular. So says the Paizo continuity guy.—Paizo Publishing, LLC.png Yoda8myhead (talk) 20:52, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
Move request added to the page as Dominion of the Black is currently a redirect. --Oznogon (talk) 02:34, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi all - I still have yet to learn how to make proper references. All tips appreciated. I believe it's Dominions (plural) as opposed to Dominion. i tried to fix that and hope I didn't make it worse.--Ask a Shoanti 19:47, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

Hi Mr. a Shoanti. When I first started out here a bit over a year ago I just paid attention to the edits people made to the articles I and others were creating. I also read the Help Articles which contain a lot of great information. Thanks for your interest! --brandingopportunity 20:32, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
Great to see you on here helping out, Mike. There is a bit of a learning curve for getting wiki editing down, but we're all happy to help. One good way to learn is to look at how others change the pages you've started or worked on (by checking their page history at the top of each article) to see how they've reformatted your syntax. And you can always ask me or one of the other users for help on our personal talk pages. —yoda8myhead 22:30, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks guys! That helps. I'll try to be a quick study. In the meantime, please excuse my stumbles. (I could see this being kinda addicting)--Ask a Shoanti 11:38, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

It's true, it can become addicting. After a while you start feeling possessive (in a good way) about it and want to keep it looking nice. And a great part is that truly any work is appreciated here, whether it's two minutes spent clearing up puctuation, typos, or broken links, or six hours spent mapping out and writing a huge article that covers 20 publications. --brandingopportunity 12:17, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

Good! My goal is to avoid a negative contribution. : ) There's a few topics I know a few things about and might be able to help with, but I want to ensure I do no harm to this fine project. Thanks again.

I think you'd have to actually try to hurt the site to actually do damage to it, and even then, anything can always be changed back. I really would not worry about it. The only thing that we've reminded those who have actually contributed material to Paizo publications, is that the Wiki is for published information only. The only time when unpublished information has made it in, is when a confusing topic had been clarified by an author or a Paizo employee. --brandingopportunity 18:37, March 28, 2010 (UTC)
