Boatswain

The boatswain, or bosun, is responsible for the upper deck of a vessel and above.

The boatswain is accountable for all rope, rigging, anchors, and sails, and reports on the general condition of the ship's deck to the captain each morning. As the overseer for much of the ship's daily labor, the boatswain is often responsible for keeping discipline and ordering punishment.
