Festival of the Sun

The Festival of the Sun is a seemingly bucolic festival celebrating the onset of autumn and giving thanks for the protection that the Kodar Mountains provide the Varisian villagers of the area; the village is is close to the border with the Hold of Belkzen. The celebration centres around a child crowned as the Lord of Summer, clothed in leaves and vines, who sits on the Briar Throne during the ceremony. Unfortunately, the pastoral idyll is shattered on the realization that the ceremony summons forth urdefhan from the Darklands to snatch away the child into slavery and, inevitably, a painful death.
