PathfinderWiki:Fair use
The fair use doctrine is an aspect of United States copyright law that provides for the licit, non-licensed citation or incorporation of copyrighted material in another author's work under certain, specifiable conditions.
In general, content on PathfinderWiki is not used under fair use. This is, in part, because fair use can get messy, and we as a community respect Paizo Inc. and their openness with their intellectual property and copyrights throughout the Community Use Policy. To show our respect and gratitude, we tacitly agree not to push the limits of their good faith by claiming fair use on content they have specifically withheld from the Community Use Package.
In some instances, however, fair use may still apply to content included on this project. In each case, it is the responsibility of the editor adding such content to the project to justify its inclusion as fair use content. In most cases, these will be images of products not released by Paizo Inc. (such as licensed material) included to illustrate the product in question, real-world images of contributors or events used to illustrate the person or event in question, or corporate logos employed as a visual representation of an otherwise hard-to-depict business entity.
