Selona is a city built on the branches of Usu, one of the oldest and largest trees on the First World.

Geography

The elite of Selona build their manors and fortresses from Usu's golden resin, magically fortified by the city's druids, on large branches near the trunk where it is rarely necessary to traverse spiraling stair-roads or precarious hanging bridges. The poor, whose houses are made from plank-sized bark, live on the new shoots, where footing is less stable and attacks are common. Notable districts of Selona include academic Scholars' Burl and burnt, bohemian Newleaf.

Government

The Seeds of Usu, a council of hamadryads chosen or created from the populace, rules over Selona, since Usu is too big for a single dryad to care for. They publicly reside in the Heartwood Palace, but sometimes secretly take and execute cryptic orders from the mind of Usu itself, whose memory and foresight is beyond the comprehension of younger creatures. Selona and Usu are defended from all sorts of threats by the Rotguard, a military force under the command of Chiel Enkaro who operates from the Thorn.

People

Selona's residents rely on Usu's resin as a major food source and export.
