Brinyblack

Brinyblack is an oily black ooze floating on the surface of the Arcadian Ocean. Most active at night, its caustic substance burns through the hull of wooden ships with a touch, and as a ship sinks, Brinyblack seeps inside in search of living prey. Survivors tell tales of escaping Brinyblack by hiding in metal chests or pots and paddling their way to safety.¹
