The titanic statue of the Marble Sphinx in the city of Katapesh is 120 feet tall. It depicts a sitting creature with the body of a lioness and the head of a long-haired female human with sharp tusks jutting up from the corners of her mouth. The statue is not made from marble, but rather from sandstone.
When the first settlers arrived to Katapesh, they discovered this enormous statue of a sphinx sitting as if it was guarding the valley. Those settlers built the ancient Golden City at this site in 2218 AR.1
