The island's location is rationalized by the island's relative shape and position on the abstract world map of Golarion from Pathfinder First Edition sources used in the locator map on The Island of the Vibrant Dead 3, the similar geometry of the island on the Lost Omens World Guide map, and the description of the region in the locator map's text ("close to the halfway point between the Ruins of Azlant and the Tines", so likely significantly south of 30 degrees N).
