Map position and canon errors on location

No published map depicts the position of Willowshore in Shenmen. To Bloom Below the Web 19 describes Willowshore's position relative to Karahai, but Karahai also does not appear on any published map.

James Jacobs described an approximate position for Karahai in a canon clarification about To Bloom Below the Web 36, which incorrectly states the distance (300 miles; should be 250 miles or less) and relative direction (east; should be west) of the Gossamer Mountains.

On the map of Shenmen on page 194 of the Tian Xia World Guide, Karahai and Willowshore would be almost overlapping since one inch on that map is 250 miles. Karahai is located on the coast of the inland sea, just above the point where the forest goes back to the coast to the northeast of the "D" in the SPECTERWOOD label. Willowshore's not much further away. The river and all that don't show up on the map at all.

To Bloom Below the Web 19 describes Karahai as being "a few hours" south of the Silkwasp Camp, which is described as being "on a tall bluff overlooking the Sea of Ghosts" and depicted as such on a battle map. It also describes the camp as being "just shy of 3 miles east of the edge of the Willowshore hinterlands map" on the inside front cover of the book. The map depicts the distance from Willowshore to the edge of the map as being approximately 16-18 miles, placing the camp about 19–21 miles nearly due east of Willowshore, and the camp a few miles north of Karahai.

In Jacobs' clarification, he notes:

Distance wise, it's (Karahai and Willowshore) about the same distance in a straight line from Sze or Baakai.

The wiki map's coordinates for Karahai and Willowshore are largely consistent with this description. The distance from Baakai to the estimated position of Willowshore is about 240 miles, and the distance from Sze is about 220 miles. -Oznogon (talk) 20:17, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

  • The Summer That Never Was throughout; note that almost everything in this book about Willowshore, especially after 4608 AR/7108 IC and especially as of "current times"/4723 AR/7223 IC, is a major spoiler for the first three issues of the Adventure Path due to its unusual conceit. -Oznogon (talk) 19:02, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
