Obsidian Entertainment is the developer and publisher of computer and console games, particularly roleplaying games. It was founded in 2003 by after the disestablishment of Interplay Productions' Black Isle Studios, and its games include Pillars of Eternity, Fallout: New Vegas, Neverwinter Nights 2, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II.1 On November 11, 2018, Microsoft acquired Obsidian Entertainment and added it to its Microsoft Studios division.2

Obsidian licenses the Pathfinder intellectual property from Paizo Inc. Their first announced project is a tablet adaptation of the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game. Paizo CEO Lisa Stevens confirmed that a computer roleplaying game using the Pathfinder license is one of "many games" also planned as part of the partnership.3
