Map scale
The Council of Thieves Pathfinder Adventure Path included two maps of Westcrown: an abstract city map with exaggerated proportions that appeared in each issue, and a more detailed unlabeled map that was included in the Council of Thieves Map Folio. No iteration of these maps in that Adventure Path included a scale bar.
Hell Comes to Westcrown reprinted the detailed Council of Thieves Map Folio map with a scale bar, rego borders, and labels for some city locations. However, the scale bar on that map suggests that Westcrown measures approximately 20 miles from its northernmost point to its southernmost point, and that Westcrown Island measures approximately 4.7 miles by 10.5 miles.
This makes Westcrown the largest city in Avistan by area several times over, at least when compared to other cities with a scale bar. For comparison, Westcrown Island alone could fit the entirety of the city of Absalom at this scale with room to spare. Oppara, with a similar population as Westcrown, is depicted as being less than 1/40 as large in area when compared to Westcrown.
For those reasons, I suspect the scale bar in Hell Comes to Westcrown is in error, and the city should be considerably smaller in land area. However, because that scale bar is the only canon source for Westcrown's physical size that I've found so far, the wiki's map as of this comment depicts Westcrown at that map's scale.
If there's another map with a more sensible scale bar, or an official clarification, I can adjust the map accordingly. -Oznogon (talk) 01:18, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
