The scrags of the Scrag Deep tribe are still led by descendants of their ancient warlord Tirchagac, each of whom takes on the "war-name" of its ancestor. The Tirchagac as of 4713 AR was a particularly loathsome and brutish warlord, and Helkgen's townsfolk had paid the scrags enormous tribute in order to avoid bloody raids. Challengers to Tirchagac's authority included Mhraggat and the "Mother of Carnage" Piyakak, whose followings of young supporters were growing at the time.
