Unburdening

From PathfinderWiki

The Unburdening is a ritual taught by Kallijae elves to fully cleanse, purify, and re-center all parts of one's body.

Ritual components

The ritual is ideally performed on the island of Haven but can be performed in any spring-fed or freshwater pool.

The ritual cleansing starts with cleaning of the body, going part by part cleaning and acknowledging what has been endured since the last ritual cleansing. Through this process, the participant reflects upon and acknowledge all deeds, celebrating what brought joy and forgiving any regrets, accepting these memories, and holding close all lessons learned. The final part of the body cleaned is always the hair, guiding the memories to take root in the mind.

Kallijae perform this ritual after any long journey, or at a minimum of once a year on their birthday.1

Taloses

Among Kallijae, talos geniekin children are rare but prized. Most often offspring of umanyano aiuvarins, Kallijae perform the Unburdening in order to make these taloses' bodies as strong and resilient as their visible metallic affiliations.2

Outsiders

Kallijae freely teach the Unburdening to outsiders, seeing it as a way they can lessen the spread of evil outside of their own lands.1
