Since it was opened in 4689 AR, the gate archon Ambithas has guarded a secret portal that connects the Pulgari Estate in Druma's Palakar Forest to Hell. Ambithas initially tried and failed to close the portal, and has since resorted to protecting it. He works with the local fey to hide it from travellers, explaining the threat the devils would pose were they to have free access to the forest.

Prior to his vigil in Druma, he wandered the Universe to study arcane magic, and once stood guard over an elf gate in the Crown of the World for decades during the Age of Darkness before the elves' return to Golarion. Ambithas' proximity to that elf gate imbued it with his divine essence, and the returning elves who passed through the gate in turn gained divine abilities that were also passed down through several generations of descendants.
