Bertrida Vancaskerkin was the third wife of Saul Vancaskerkin, patriarch of the Vancaskerkin family in Riddleport, Varisia. She died several years prior to 4708 AR in a house fire started by Saul, lit to cover his failed escape from gendarmes who sought his capture for actions related to the death of Falk Zinder at the hands of Saul's son Orik Vancaskerkin.

Bertrida was stepmother to Natalya Vancaskerkin, born of Saul's first marriage to the Varisian harrower Adreea Valitrosa, and of Orik and Verik Vancaskerkin, both born to Saul's second wife. Bertrida hated Natalya and revealed to Saul her stepdaughter's dealings with the Sczarni, who were responsible for the death of Adreea; this resulted in Saul disowning Natalya.
