With User:Rexert pushing through changes to image categorization in Category:Images of architectural structures, we should ideally keep the article structure aligned with those changes (whatever they are or might end up being).

This would also be a good opportunity to try to define Map PoI point types like monument, manor-house, castle, and city-ruins on-wiki by associating them more closely with categories in Category:Buildings. While one-to-one consistency between regular categories and image categories isn't strictly necessary, any improvement to alignment between the two would certainly reduce ambiguity. I suggest using the same "architectural structure" term to include further intentionally created, artificial structures not covered by the "building" term, such as wells, bridges and gardens.
Regarding the mapping project specifically, I'm a huge fan of the way video game map systems use different icons for different location types, and allow users to enable or disable locations on the map based on their type with a filter system. I'm unsure whether equivalent functionality is realistically possible for the map of Golarion, but I would certainly support it. --Rexert (talk) 17:29, 21 April 2025 (UTC)Reply[reply]
