Category talk:Magic items
How should we break up the category tree here? I think possible information regarding magic items are Caster Level and slot, though there are a lot more that could be included. The Forgotten Realms Wiki lists many more details than that, even going so far as to include magical bonus, special qualities like keen and banes (which I think we can make flow simply into the flavor text without resorting to rules text). But the sooner we set up a category hierarchy the easier it will be down the road. -- Yoda8myhead 03:48, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think CL subcategories would serve much purpose. At least, I've never really searched by CL when I needed to find an appropriate magic item. That said, I have searched based on item type, such as ring, wondrous item, etc., and even sword or hammer separately. Cursed items would also be a useful sub category, as would intelligent items. Perhaps even by any special material(s) used in an item's creation, though I'm still unsure of the validity of such classification. -- Heaven's Agent 16:26, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Today I added the subcategory Category:Magic items by type. Now I'm thinking about including artifacts, intelligent and cursed items into this category. Or should those "types" better be left as separate categories? Both could be done but I think that would make things redundant. Contrary to Heaven's Agent I can see a use for the CL subcategory; my wizards tend to be into item creation and caster level is one of the criteria to look for if you search through an item database. -- Wormys_Queue 21:23, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
