Father Ezakien Tobyn was the religious leader in the Varisian town of Sandpoint until his death in 4702 AR. The Desnan cleric died in the fire that destroyed the town church—part of a series of events that came to be known as the "Late Unpleasantness"—which was set by his adopted aasimar daughter Nualia.[1] Five years later, Nualia stole her foster father's remains from the Sandpoint Boneyard and burned them in a dark rite to Lamashtu in the Thassilonian ruins beneath Thistletop.[2]
