Monastery of the Unremitting Tide
The Monastery of the Unremitting Tide is historically an Iroran monastery on the eastern coast of Nex.1
History
The Monastery of the Unremitting Tide was established two centuries ago by a group of Vudrani monks from Jalmeray who sought solitude on a remote island. This island, once part of a peninsula, was severed from the mainland four millennia earlier when the dryad sorcerer Jathyl sacrificed herself to halt the spread of a devastating blight unleashed during the war between the wizard-kings Nex and Geb.1

Over time, the island flourished into a verdant sanctuary, until the monks arrived and constructed a grand monastery, its heart centered around Jathyl's immense tree. Though they required only a small amount of lumber, their devotion to Irori's teachings of knowledge and history drove an insatiable demand for paper. To make the paper, the monks began harvesting all the trees on the island that Jathyl had sacrificed herself to save.
Finally, the monks felled the final tree and Jathyl's spirit was unhappily awakened; the subject of her sacrifice now gone, the spell that bound her was lifted. She became unhinged as she felt the now-disconnected pieces of her tree, spread across Golarion. Every piece was still mystically connected to her, and she could feel every nail driven into the timber harvested from her, or every stroke of the quill on paper milled from her. She became obsessed with recovering all of her disparate pieces and enslaved the inhabitants of the monastery to aid her in her retrieval.1
One such paper, seized by Jathyl, caught the attention of the Pathfinder Society in Almas. It was known as the Fleshforge Manuscript, a priceless example of the illuminator's art, embellished in rare inks and exquisite gilt. It spells out coveted details of how the Nexian fleshforges in Ecanus created the fleshwarped creatures for its ancient war against Geb. This necessitated action by the Pathfinder Society, which dispatched Pathfinders to retrieve the lost manuscript.23
