PathfinderWiki:Meta page guidelines

From PathfinderWiki
Compass rose.svg This page is a guideline on the PathfinderWiki.

It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that all users should follow but is not policy.

The Meta namespace on PathfinderWiki (pages beginning with Meta:) is designed for providing notes, context, and tasks related to the editing process of a given page, such as noting unincorporated sources or tracking the status of a product's inclusion in the wiki.

Consider Meta pages to be a collaborative, factual reference for resources to improve an article, in contrast to Talk pages as the venue for discussing opinions about the editing or authoring process of an article itself.

Basic guidelines for all meta pages

  • Sign your comments - You can use four tildes (like this ~~~~), which are automatically converted to your signature.
  • Use consistent and documented utility templates, such as U, and Product status.
    • Copy formatting from others if necessary.
    • Indent with colons (:), not with tabs.
    • Break up very large paragraphs.
  • Provide facts and resources only—share opinions on Talk pages or the Discord chat.

Canon changes

Per the canon policy, retroactive canon changes should be documented on an article's Meta page. Include the previous facts with citations, describe the changes, and link to relevant sources (such as Paizo blog posts, staff statements, or sourcebooks) that confirm the change as intentional and retroactive. If a canon change makes significant changes to an article's content or structure, or removes significant content from the article, include a link to the revision prior to the changes. If the source is a video lacking accurate captions, you can optionally transcribe the relevant statements. For an example, see Meta:Drow.

Unincorporated sources

The U template provides a consistent header and categorization for lists of sources that have yet to be incorporated into an article. The chosen template should be followed by a simple wiki list of:

  • sources with page numbers
  • short factual notes about what information is contained in that source
  • a signature with timestamp of the chronicler who noted the source

Some items might be struck through with <s> or <strike> tags to indicate that a once unincorporated source has been fully incorporated in the article.

Inclusion tasks

Each canon work on the Pathfinder campaign setting contains information about many topics. For especially complex or involved subjects, you can use Meta pages to catalog related subjects.

Older information
I have looked through the material below and it seems to have been all dealt with or superseded. --Fleanetha (talk) 18:37, 12 May 2016 (UTC)

CSII
The following topics are covered in the Campaign Setting and should have fleshed-out articles before this section of the project is considered complete: <s>Absalom#Government</s>,
<s>Ascendant Court</s>,
<s>Starstone Cathedral</s>,
<s>Azlanti Keep</s>,
<s>The Coins</s>,
...

Product inclusion status tracking

To help divide the work of including a specific text's information in the wiki, you can place a Product status or Fiction status template on the Meta page of a real-world book or product. These templates include fields where chroniclers can own and report on the status of certain related tasks. Also see the Tasks category for articles that include these templates.
