Splintermold

Splintermold is a Darklands fungus found hanging down from the roofs of caverns, similar in fashion to a stalactite. It is usually found among stalactites. since the fungus is nourished by minerals in these rock formations that it harvests with small fungal tendrils.

This process has a dangerous consequence, however, of weakening the stalactites such that small vibrations may dislodge them causing them to fall to the ground. This makes splintermold a hazard to Darklands creatures whose movement through an infected cavern could bring a rain of stalactites on their heads.
