Talk:Abraxas
Um... Are we sure that Abraxas is actually a "deity?" We need to figure out which template to use for these god-like beings (Abraxas, Achaekek, Pazuzu, etc.), because in the PF Campaign Setting it says that only Lamashtu and Asmodeus span both categories of their kind (deity and demon lord/archdevil). I think Achaekek is officially a deity, since he's listed as one (though described in some sources as a god-like entity), but Pazuzu is certainly not. Many of the upper-level extraplanar aligned entities grant spells, but aren't "gods" per se; they have material forms which they cannot leave without the aid of magic (e.g. astral projection or some 10th- or 9th-level spell). --Canifis 21:41, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
- Our MO to date has been that anyone who grants spells, has domains and/or a portfolio is considered a deity. How they are categorized and the content of the article itself will distinguish entities by power level. We might consider adding an optional "power level" line to the deity template to distinguish full deities, minor deities, demigods, demon lords, archedevils, etc. That would involve a lot of editing of existing articles, though. As far as the canon-makers at Paizo are concerned, my understanding is that Asmodeus/Lamashtu are the only two demons/devils to attain "full" godhood, hence their five domains. Anyone with five domains is a major deity, four a minor and three or less a demigod. Regardless, I think that overloading the wiki with a template for each type of planar "demigod" would be overkill. They're all going to say the same thing. -- Yoda8myhead 23:34, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
- 'K, sounds good to me. I'm gonna go get PF #18 and start plugging in all of the demon lords, their portfolios, and domains. --Canifis 16:48, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
- Great! I look forward to seeing their articles pop up! I think taking the project one source at a time is definitely the way we'll both catch up and ensure we don't miss anything. Let me know if there are any other questions. -- Yoda8myhead 17:30, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Abraxas image from PF #18?
Should I upload the Abraxas picture from Pathfinder #18, or would that be infringing on copyright laws since it's not already on the web? --Canifis 18:16, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- Unless printed art comes from the Community Use Package, or can be found specifically within the Paizo Blog (just being found elsewhere on the internet does not qualify an image for use), it cannot be used within the project. As such, that particular image is a no-go. -- Heaven's Agent 18:33, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
