Raising of the Starstone

Various sources have different timelines or orders of events when depicting when and how Aroden became a full deity. Sources also disagree on whether Aroden himself was subject to the Test of the Starstone or was its designer. These range from Mythic Realms (in which he ascended to full godhood as a reward for devising the Test, which he did after raising the Starstone and the Isle of Kortos together), to GM Core (in which he ascended to godhood after he located the Starstone and passed the Test of the Starstone, which transformed him into a god who could then raise the Starstone and Isle of Kortos). See also Talk:Starstone/Conflicts.

There have also been multiple conflicting clarifications by Paizo editorial staff, as well as promises of clarification in The Dead God's Hand, which as of May 2024 does not have a release date.1 The most prominent and detailed clarifications (1, 2; both state that Aroden was a mortal prior to raising the Starstone, a demigod after raising the Starstone, and a full deity after defeating the echo of Deskari) were also superseded by the brief explanation published in GM Core.

For these reasons, take care when citing or claiming a specific method, location, timeline, or actions for or related to Aroden's ascension. As of May 2024, PathfinderWiki uses the simple description of the events as presented in GM Core as it is the highest-tier and newest officially published source. -Oznogon (talk) 01:07, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
