Talk:Psionics

From PathfinderWiki

I move that this article's title be changed to "Psionics", as "Psionic" is IMO an adjective. I thought it would be good to post this first (instead of just changing it myself) in case anyone had any objections. See example: [1] --brandingopportunity 23:51, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

I agree. I can't think of any other times we would use an adjective as an article title. I assume whomever created it left off the terminal "s" in an attempt to adhere to our naming conventions by using the singular. This doesn't really apply in this case, though. Move away! -- yoda8myhead 23:57, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Merge with psychic magic

Considering this article is entirely sourced to the seven-year-old Campaign Setting book, and all its points about psionics (except half-elven predilections) are now attributed to psychic magic, I propose merging this page with or redirecting it to psychic magic. -Oznogon (talk) 18:01, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Specifically, while the Vancian psychic magic system in Occult Adventures is mechanically intentionally distinct from point-based psionics, psionics hasn't been mentioned in canon since Dungeon Denizens Revisited in 2009, and even then in contexts that make it indistinguishable from what's now called psychic magic. Occult Origins and Occult Bestiary state psychics are prevalent in Vudra and Castrovel; neither mentions psions/psionics. Aboleths are heavily implied to have psychic powers in Occult Adventures and Occult Bestiary. Occult Adventures doesn't mention psionics once. -Oznogon (talk) 18:25, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
Makes sense to me. The terms psionics seems to be to have been completely subsumed by psychic. A redirect is all we need. --Brandingopportunity (talk) 23:34, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
No comment in two months, pointing to psychic magic. -Oznogon (talk) 06:37, 18 December 2015 (UTC)
