The Absalom Mint, located near Azlanti Keep in Absalom's Wise Quarter that produces much of the city's coinage—a function that, due to the City at the Center of the World's outsized influence on trade and commerce, literally and figuratively shapes money across the Inner Sea region and beyond. Coins minted in Absalom are either accepted in locations as distant as Tian Xia and Vudra, or is the standard by which nations measure and mint their own currency.

The Mint re-mints currencies from other nations, often increasing the resulting coins' purity in the process. Its building also houses the city's Office of Taxation.

Structure

The Mint is a stone fortress adjacent to Azlanti Keep with few windows, two exterior doors, and an array of chimneys that belch smoke exhausted by the metal smelters located inside.

Its eastern wing houses the tax collectors and Precious Guard of Absalom's Office of Taxation, which deposits both collected coinage and taxation records into the facility. The west wing contains the Mint's smelters, scales, and coin presses, which work in concert to produce new coins to the precise standards that the Mint has maintained for more than 3,600 years. The authenticated dies used to stamp Absalom's coins are especially well protected through both magical and mundane means.

Operations

As of 4719 AR, the Mint is led by Lord Exchequer Kerkis of House Damaq. Precious Guard captain Florian Gale is personally responsible for protecting the Mint.

Coins from tax receipts that are in acceptible condition are stored in deep vaults underground, while damaged coins are re-minted in the west wing.

The Mint is a frequent subject of conspiracy theories among Absalom's populace.
