Bogwiggles, also known as toadhounds, are stunted and unintelligent creatures created as side-effects of the growth of a boggard tribe's priest-king's offspring.1

Appearance

Bogwiggles resemble monstrous tadpoles the size of dogs. Its bulbous body is dominated by its large head, clawed arms, and long tail. They share the coloration of the boggard tribe to which they belong, and like boggards they also tend to lose their coloration as they age.1

Ecology

Bogwiggles originate from the young of a boggard priest-king, whose tadpoles are fed a diet of poisonous blue dragonflies. Most of these young die, and most of the survivors are physically and mentally stunted by the toxins, never fully developing out of their tadpole stage to become little more intelligent than a dog.2

However, some develop enhanced magical and mental abilities. These creatures become known as bogwiggles and are used by their tribes as hunting animals and guards, and are often severely mistreated. Although bogwiggles may live to be twenty years old, most reach only half that age due to mistreatment from their boggard masters and other dangers in the swamps they inhabit.2

Variants

There are at least four variants of bogwiggles:3

  • Bogwiggle
  • Croaking bogwiggle
  • Filthy bogwiggle
  • Poisonous bogwiggle
