A crystal ball of the dark void functions as a normal crystal ball, but can also cast the sending spell once a day. Once a month, it can be used to attempt contact with a shantak. If successful, the shantak arrives at the site of contact in between 3 and 60 hours. If the caster cannot control the creature (or is not there to try), the shantak attacks anything nearby. Some users have been driven mad by this crystal ball showing them horrors of the Dark Tapestry.
