Drathyrum

From PathfinderWiki
A red dragon emits magically flaming breath, an effect supported by a dragon's drathyrum-producing superior arcanicus gland.

Drathyrum is a magical ichor produced and managed in dragons' glandular system by its arcanicus glands. It serves a vital role in a dragon's magical breath,12 and the arcanicus glands that produce it are one of the traits that distinguishes true dragons from lesser dragonkind.1

Drathyrum is produced by the superior arcanicus gland and consumed when a dragon emits its powerful magical breath. Unused drathyrum is reabsorbed in the dragon's stomach13 and channeled via its pericardial arcaduct to its aortic arcanicus gland,1 which infuses drathyrum into the dragon's muscular and skeletal systems as reinforcement. The gastroarcanicus gland also breaks down otherwise indigestible objects to maximize nutritional absorption and minimize waste.14
