This article covers a topic relevant to Pathfinder Second Edition. For the Pathfinder First Edition equivalent, see word of recall.

Gathering call is a powerful ritual that allows the spellcasters and other willing participants to designate a small, familiar area at the time of the ritual's preparation, and with no more than a word teleport to it across any distance on the same plane upon which the ritual was performed.

Once any participant speaks the chosen word to invoke the ritual, all other participants become aware and can individually decide to return to the ritual site, in the same position as when they performed the ritual. Invoking the ritual's power also dismisses it, regardless of whether some participants refuse to be teleported.

The ritual to establish the sanctuary point can typically include up to seven willing beings, and requires a total of three casters with expertise in arcana or occultism to commit 5,000 gold pieces' worth of rare oils and minerals in powder form and seven days' time. The resulting connection lasts for a full year.

At the cost of an additional 5,000 gp of materials, the ritual can be heightened to include an eighth consenting creature and the capacity to teleport more powerful subjects.

The spell cannot facilitate travel across planes, with one notable exception: a particularly catastrophic failure in the ritual's performance instead anchors the sanctuary point to a random location on a different plane. None of the participants are made aware of this failure, and invoking the ritual's power forcefully teleports all participants to this random location.12

The work An Investigation Into the Enduring Allure of the Hearth includes the necessary instructions to perform the ritual, though the poor quality of its writing complicates such studies.3
