Ishii Bunji
Ishii Bunji, also known as the Tyrant Breaker, is a Firebrand warrior renowned for his prowess in combat, jovial demeanor, and defense of vulnerable peoples.1
Appearance
Ishii is a massively built, muscular Tian-Min human man who stands both tall and broad with a large belly. He proudly bears the pectoral scars from his gender transition and immaculately grooms his prominent full beard and mustache. He is also known for wearing his hair in a topknot.1
Associates
Ishii is popular among most Firebrands, particularly the crew of the Nightwave. He often joins small and intense rebellions to defend and fight alongside those who need the most aid, often at the expense of participating in larger conflicts, which leads some Firebrands to consider him to be unreliable. He also clashes over his methods with the Sapphire Butterfly, and in his demeanor with Shensen.
While Ishii has taken many lovers, including the Firebrand storyteller Iquani Truthspinner, and has been listed by Absalom newspapers as among the most eligible bachelors of the Firebrands, he had shown no interest in marriage as of 4723 AR.1
Background
Ishii was a sumo champion in Minkai before joining a rebellion against the Jade Regent, after which he helped rebuild his home province and reflected on how he could best use his strength to defend others. He joined the Firebrands soon thereafter, contributing his significant combat and tactical prowess while also serving as a champion of commoners.1
Possessions
Ishii wields a massive frying pan-shaped cooking pot as both a shield and a cooking implement. He claims that the pot is a family heirloom made of singing steel that has become unbreakable due to the generations of care and love it has borne as part of the Ishii family.1
