Barbazus originated in a different game and were used in the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game under the Open Game License. In the Pathfinder Second Edition Remaster Project, Paizo changed Pathfinder's license to the Open RPG Creative license, preventing barbazus from being used going forward.

In Monster Core 87, Paizo introduced vordines, a new canon devil of the same level filling a similar canon role. Vordines do not share any other canon details about their creation, equipment, or appearance, and share few abilities.

As of June 2024, the state of barbazus in past canon works is unclear. As it appears unlikely that barbazus will appear in Pathfinder works again, the article has been flagged as legacy content. -Oznogon (talk) 03:42, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
