Oppalis, sometimes called "bad luck vines", are plants capable of draining the luck from its victims.1

Appearance

A fully extended oppali is about 30 feet long, but are typically coiled to fit into a much smaller space. Its flowers are durable, white, and trumpet-shaped.1

Abilities

Traditionally referred to as a "bad luck vine", an oppali can drain luck from the sentient creatures it strikes with its vines. It can also blast its victims with a discordant trumpeting sound. Those trumpets also allow them to precisely detect creatures via sound by up to 60 feet away.1

On Golarion

Oppalis are native to temperate and tropical regions,1 including the Terwa Uplands in the Mwangi Expanse. For example, some grow among lakeshore foliage near Mount K'walder.2 Gardeners and farmers consider their luck-draining effects to be a threat to their yields.1

As items

Crushed oppali trumpets can be applied to aid the crafting of thunderstones, making them valuable to harvest from fallen specimens.1
