Petriferns are humanoid-shaped plants capable of moving to maximise their input of oxygen, sunlight, and nutrition. They produce a chemical that allows them to petrify themselves (which they always do when not moving to protect themselves) and makes them taste disgusting to herbivores. Petriferns reach a maximum height of one foot and weigh up to three pounds.
