Quai dau to
Quai dau tos are large amphibious beasts known for their frightful reflective appearance, the obscuring mists they can generate, and their ability to absorb large amounts of air or water into their bladder-like bodies.12
Appearance
A quai dau to resembles a huge amalgamation of an elephant's trunk, sharp teeth, glassy large copper eyes, reflective scales, a hairy beard, fish-like fins and tail, and duck-like feet. Its fins and feet grant it considerable agility both on land and in water. Its body is a round sac capable of tremendous expansion.12
Abilities
A quai dau to's bizarre appearance can give those who view it debilitating pause, and its scales reflect light such that it can also blind others.
The beast can suck tremendous amounts of air or water into its body within seconds. If it inflates itself with air, it can fly; if it drains water, it can emit it in a concealing mist or blast it in a stream from its trunk. Rather then having traditional ears, the quai dau to's inflatable, water-storing organ atop its skull is extremely sensitive to vibrations, acting as a pseudo-ear, although its ability to see in the dark and sense of smell are more notable.
While immune to being blinded and capable of seeing through mist, loud sounds can irritate quai dau tos into a rage or harm them. Despite their size, they can still sneak up on unaware prey.21
On Golarion
In Xa Hoi, quai dau tos are some of the creatures raised as livestock by ranchers colloquially called "monster farmers".34
