Black dragons

In this article it's mentioned that black dragons are scarce in the Mushfens thanks to lingering memories of Thassilon, citing p. 8 of Dragons Revisited. However, the Bestiary for second edition states on p. 104 that "black dragons thrive in swampy wildernesses like the Mushfens." Is this a canon conflict? GM3826 (talk) 17:49, 30 November 2019 (UTC)

Well spotted, GM3826, looks like it could indeed be a conflict as I can confirm the text in both sources you quote. Our PathfinderWiki:Canon policy suggests that the newer Bestiary takes precedent, but that contains but a single phrase compared to two paragraphs of argued text in the older publication. The policy also states, "However, in all cases is that valid sources should be construed so as not to be in conflict. The presumption should be that a conflict does not exist unless no other explanation is reasonable under the circumstances." So, here, maybe we can place the new text, referencing the new Bestiary, but state that for the Mushfens, in particular, other factors apply that mean black dragons are rarer than one would expect? --Fleanetha (talk) 19:50, 1 December 2019 (UTC)
That might work. I'll edit it in. GM3826 (talk) 21:23, 1 December 2019 (UTC)
