- The human wizard Ilgreth reportedly recovers the orb of gold dragonkind and begins enslaving dragons near the Five Kings Mountains.12
- The gold dragon Mengkare, who had been dominated by the orb during the Dragon Plague ca. 3661–3667 AR, confronts Ilgreth but is dominated again and drawn to Ilgreth's workshop in the volcano then named Torag's Crag.12
