The Academy of Scribes is an educational organisation based in Tephu's Old City, well known for producing secular scribes and clerks for the royal bureaucracy, as well as clerics and wizards.123 The academy accepts students as young as five years old who are taught to read and write by elderly wizards, and when they graduate at marriageable age they are given the opportunity to continue their studies as state bureaucrats. Those who are drawn to the worship of Nethys enter the nearby Sanctuary of Nethys on graduation. Studying at the academy is considered prestigious, and students have access to the Great Library of Tephu.23

The academy's current leader is Grand Scholar Fatimid, though due to his deteriorating state, Scholar Idriss runs the school.3
